Skateboard flash back

Me and my good mate Jeremy (http://www.jeremybeasley.com.au/) made the most of some flash gear that was available to us last year. Hadn't shot skateboarding before and wanted to give it a go. When I was growing up I had skated for about 5 years and still keep in contact with some of the guys still rolling. Got a couple of them together and headed down to the Tuggeranong skatepark to shoot some tricks. Had a very close call with one of the skateboards flying right for my head and hit my camera before I could duck out of the way (still got the shot). By some miracle it snapped my lens hood but didn't scratch the glass. Could have been a very expensive night :P Click here to check out the video Jeremy made from the night, sweet stuff! Make sure you watch in HD.

Cheers

Lest we forget...

Last year I decided to go to the Anzac Day Dawn Service in Canberra, Australia. I had never been before despite growing up in Canberra my entire life. I knew that I would be in Canada for this years Anzac Day and it would probably be a while before I would have the opportunity to attend again. Luckily enough for me I was able to get access to the press pit for the ceremony, and afterwards was allowed in before the general public to take photos of inside the War Memorial and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. This was an incredibly moving experience and one that I will never forget. The silence, reverence and respect shown by everyone is a tribute to just how much this day means to Australians and New Zealanders. For those of you who are not familiar with Anzac Day you can find more information here. Here is a brief selection of images from the day.
